The Day The Music Died
The Day The Music Died : Black/Red/Blue T-Shirt.
This phrase used to describe the February 3, 1959, plane crash near Clear Lake, Iowa, that killed rock and roll pioneers Buddy Holly (22), Ritchie Valens (17), and J.P. "The Big Bopper" Richardson (28), together with pilot Roger Peterson (21). The term became popular when Don McLean immortalized the event in his iconic song "American Pie," which refers to the date as "the day the music died". The song also reflects on the subsequent cultural shifts and tragic events of the 1960s.
